SPECIAL TOUR OF PINE BLUFF ARSENAL

TOUR OF NCTR

The Pine Bluff Arsenal has state-of-the-art equipment and practices the standards of competency required to assure public safety and defend the nation against biological and chemical terrorism. This is a rare opportunity for a unique tour. Buses will transport conference participants and guests to the Arsenal on Thursday afternoon at 1:00 PM and return to the hotel around 5:15 PM.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are not a US Citizen please notify this office at least 2-3 weeks in advance since special clearance must be obtained for non-US citizens to enter the Pine Bluff Arsenal

The National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR) conducts peer-reviewed scientific research that supports the FDA's current and future regulatory needs. This involves fundamental and applied research specifically designed to define biological mechanisms of action underlying the toxicity of products regulated by the FDA. This research is aimed at understanding critical biological events in the expression of toxicity and at developing methods to improve assessment of human exposure, susceptibility and risk. New DNA-, RNA- and protein-based tools will allow NCTR scientists to better understand the models used to predict toxicity in humans. Iintegrated programs that apply expertise in transgenics, genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, computational biology and biomarkers are being developed.

The Poster Session is a hi-light of this meeting and provides an ideal venue to discuss research details and form collaborations. Free communications from poster on any topic of neuroscience and toxicology are welcome. It is scheduled for Wednesday, November 20, 2002 from 7:00 until 9:00 PM. Papers will be grouped by topic and scheduled by title and authors in the Final Program. You will be assigned a number for the exact location of your poster. The author giving a poster presentation must be registered for the Conference; co-authors need not be registered.

DISPLAYS: Each presentation is assigned a 4' by 6' corkboard on which to display data. Please identify your poster with a title and the names of the investigators in 1" lettering at the top of the display. Post a copy of your abstract. Presenters should provide their own push pins (5/8" long) for attaching posters to the display unit. The poster boards will be available by noon on Monday, November 18, 2002. Posters should be set up by Tuesday morning to be available for as long as possible to attendees.

Presenters should attend posters from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. If you leave your poster, please post a note indicating when you will return. Posters should be removed by 12:30 PM on Thursday. The International Neurotoxicology Conference is not responsible for removing or storing posters.

STUDENT AWARDS: CASH & PLAQUES. There will be cash and plaques for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for Pre- and Post-Doctoral Students presented during NTX XX. In addition to the best paper presented by a pre-doctoral or pre-medical student, an award will also be presented for the best post-doctoral paper presented. Selection of the Awardees will be made during the Poster Session. Awards will be presented on Thursday afternoon. Criteria for judging is posted on www.neurotoxicology.com.
